Mr. Buck Gets Justice

The crime was committed in Bear Creek Park, outside of Katy, Texas - not very far from the dog park where we take Maggie and Little Brother to run off-leash.  In November of 2008, shortly after we moved here from Bolivar Peninsula, a man named Brandon Gregory broke through a metal hurricane fence and slaughtered a tame deer known to locals as "Mr. Buck."  At the time he claimed he stabbed the gentle animal in self-defense.  Children's hearts were broken by that cowardly act.  Now this depraved individual has been sentenced to eighteen months in prison - and Gregory's defense attorney is whining about how a jail term will ruin his client's life!  (Gregory was serving probation for theft when he killed Mr. Buck.)

Kristine Galvan, Fox26 News:  Gregory had already pleaded guilty in August to hunting without a landowner's consent, but was hoping to get deferred adjudication...  Assistant Chief J.J. Laine with Harris County Precinct 5 said that Gregory gained access to the wildlife sanctuary by cutting through a metal hurricane fence around the backside of the park, then cutting through a metal padlock.  "I think there was just something in him that wanted to claim and collect that head as a trophy of Mr. Buck," said Prosecutor Eric Bily.  In court, Bily held up the deer's skull, which authorities found in Gregory's freezer, as part of his argument to put him behind bars.

Defense attorney Conrad Williams was outraged: "By doing that he (the judge) is doing more than punishing him. He's destroying his life essentially. The judge could've saved it for him by giving him deferred.  The conduct that my client engaged in, but for it happening at night, and but for it being a trespass, is engaged in by 100,000 hunters in Katy alone every year."

Really?  Does a hunter cut the throat of a deer so gentle it takes corn from the hand of a child?

I hate reading stories like this. Why do people do these things? I bet his folks are ashamed... and if they're not, they should be.

This was an act of an adult man who needs to prove his superiority. Since he is a total loser as a man he must destroy something weaker then he is.
He is a very dangerous person and will continue to kill and act out violently on any one or thing that he realizes is too weak to defend themselves.

Next time it could easily be a child.
