Many New Jersey Republicans think Obama might be the Antichrist

I'm sure these poll numbers would be a lot higher here in Texas, where Governor Rick Perry is so familiar with the Beast of Revelations that they're practically on speaking terms.  Even so, I've always thought of New Jersey as a bastion of progressive thought.  Which is why this comes as a surprise to me.

According to a new survey by Public Policy Polling, an astonishing thirty-five percent of conservative voters in New Jersey believe that President Barack Obama might just be the Antichrist. 

Eric Kleefeld writes on Talking Points Memo:  To be precise, 18% of self-identified conservatives affirmatively say that Obama is the Antichrist, with 17% not sure. Among the self-identified Republican label, it's 14% who say Obama has the number 666 hidden underneath his hair, plus 15% who aren't sure.  David Weigel at Washington Independent adds:  The big surprise here - the group of voters most likely to think Obama is the Antichrist are … Hispanics, who solidly backed Obama in 2008.  Only 58 percent of them say, for sure, that their president is not Satan come to wreak havoc here on earth.

For what it's worth (not much IMHO), the Antichrist is mentioned only four times in the Bible.

1 John 2:18 - Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many Antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.
1 John 2:22 - Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is Christ? He is Antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3  - And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
2 John 1:7 - For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an Antichrist.

Notice the verse that mentions "many Antichrists."  In fundie theology, there are Antichrists and there are Antichrists - and to Bible thumpers, Obama is the BIG one, who will usher in the so-called End of Times.  Pass the snake oil.
