In this day of supreme stagecraft and scripted everything in politics, it's difficult to get a real sense of our leaders' true characters.
However, President-elect Obama has allowed a small peek into his personality in his upcoming interview with Barbara Walters. And of course, the revealing exchange comes when talking about the most famous puppy quest of all time.
In his interview with ABC's Barbara Walters, Barack Obama talked to her about her dog and his own puppy preferences. Politico reportsthat the host actually sent the Obama's a photo of her pet, but it doesn't seem to be the President-elect's type.
Obama: "Cha Cha?"
Walters: "It's short for Cha Cha Cha."
Obama: "What is a Havanese?"
Walters: "It's like a little terrier and they're non-allergenic and they're the sweetest dogs.."
Obama: [Face suddenly changes.] "It's like a little yappy dog?"
Michelle: "Don't criticize."
Obama: "It, like, sits in your lap and things?"
Michelle: "It's a cute dog."
Obama: "It sounds kinda like a girly dog."
Michelle: "We're girls. We have a houseful of girls."
Obama [with hand gestures]: "We're going to have a big rambunctious dog, of some sort."
We at Progressive Puppy love all dogs (and cats and other animals). However, our heart lies with those big rambunctious breeds, especially labs. Good on ya, Mr. President-elect.

I take care of other people's dog for a living, a dog carer if you will, and I am absolutely with you and Barack Obama on this one, no yappy little things! The White House has had a terrier for the past 8 years and see what that has done... They need a big dog!!!! A black lab would be really nice, plus they are gentle and happy go lucky...not the sort to bite journalists!
Plus can you imagine him with a yappy little thing????????? I mean NO WAY!!!!
:-)
Smallest he could go is an English Cocker Spaniel (Blue Roan ;-))
Portuguese Water Dogs are very friendly and don't moult, maybe that will help with the allergy issue.
