On my wishlist of Congressmen I'd most like to see go down to defeat on Tuesday,
Chambly Saxliss Saxby Chambliss of Georgia is at the top. Until John McCain showed up this year with the most dishonorable election campaign in history, Saxby held that honor. Remember his 2002 bid against Max Cleland? The multiple draft-deferrment Chambliss despicably claimed Vietnam war hero and triple amputee Cleland was soft on terrorists because Cleland raised questions about the dubiously named Patriot Act.
Once thought to be an easy win for Republicans, Chambliss's senate seat is danger. Democratic candidate Jim Martin has closed the race in recent weeks to low single digits and the pompous Chambliss is outwardly confident, but there’s urgency in his voice as he tours North Georgia, trying to boost turnout in his predominately white base: “The other folks are voting,” he bluntly tells supporters.
The idea that whites are supposed to be terrified by black voters exercising their right to vote appears to be a theme on the campaign trail for Chambliss: "There has always been a rush to the polls by African-Americans early," he said at the square in Covington, a quick stop on a bus tour as the campaign entered its final week. He predicted the crowds of early voters would motivate Republicans to turn out. "It has also got our side energized, they see what is happening."
White people are his side? Really? Do the citizens of Georgia need any other reason to vote this guy out of office?

ProgressivePups! (And kitties, too!)

It couldn't happen to a better fellow. Mr. Martin will do right by his state and represent the best its people. Payback is a you know what.

Chambliss is an asshole. I live in Geogia and I can attest to that. But I don't think Martin can beat him.
