One of the great things about blogging is that it invariably leads to perusing the sites of other bloggers. The opinions expressed on those sites are frequently informative. They are never boring...
Robert Klein at The Huffington Post wonders if Larry Craig might make a good running mate for McCain: "The theory being that if, as expected in November, after eight years of Bush incompetence the party's chances go into the toilet; Senator Craig is, among his party, the most well acquainted with the territory."
A secret recording of George W. Bush at a Houston fundraiser has him saying: "Wall Street got drunk, it got drunk. It’s one of the reasons I asked you to turn off your tv cameras. It got drunk and now it’s got a hangover." Logan at Crooks and Liars wittily responds: "If Wall Street got drunk, George Bush and the GOP were the bartenders." (KTRK has the video.)
Some visitors to the Boise Zoo have been carrying non-concealed weapons - y'know, to show all the kids that they support the Second Amendment? Rack Jite at Kick has this to say about Idaho: "It is the only place a Texan can point to and say, 'Well, at least we aint as crazy as that!' ...One of the fathers of the ten members of OpenCarry.org family packing at the zoo said that until his children are old enough to carry guns of their own, they are carrying knives!"
Eschaton considers the poor ratings of MSNBC's Morning Joe: "An 'awesome' 5th out of 5 in the money demo is not what I would call a rousing success... Although putting on Andrea Mitchell and Pat Buchanan does appeal to the younger demographic, I'm sure."
Digby notes that John McCain promotes offshore drilling because the oil executives are telling him it's a good idea. From Firedog Lake: "That’s like asking child molesters what we should do about kiddie porn."
Steve Benen at Carpetbagger Report on John McCain's, ahem, longevity: "I look at the question about McCain’s age as largely irrelevant. I care that McCain is wrong, not that he’s wrong and nearly 72. When considering McCain’s near-constant confusion, the only relevant angle is McCain’s breathtaking incompetence — the fact that he’s a septuagenarian doesn’t much matter at all." (heh heh heh)
It may be true that opinions are like assholes. It might also be true that the biggest ones make the most noise. But as America continues to suffer from Republican misgovernment, we're not at all offended by those sounds emanating from the blogsphere. It is sweet music to our ears.
