To say the least, the Bush administration will not go down in history as a beacon of efficiency and responsiveness to the needs of the citizenry. However, there's one area where this Presidency has been, if nothing else, totally consistent -- its aversion to accountability will be legend.
And apparently even in these waning days of the Bush nightmare tenure, none of the Bushies is willing to risk jeopardizing this stellar record of NEVER stepping up to the plate and accepting the blame for any mistakes. And here's further proof:

The Federal Emergency MisManagement Agency (FEMA) "asked a federal judge yesterday for immunity from lawsuits over potentially dangerous fumes in government-issued trailers that have housed tens of thousands of Gulf Coast hurricane victims." A government lawyer argued that "FEMA's decisions in responding to a disaster, including its use of travel trailers after Katrina, are legally protected from 'judicial second-guessing.'"
Lawyers for the plaintiffs are contending that FEMA can be held liable for providing hurricane victims with trailers that didn't meet federal safety standards and weren't designed to be long-term housing. Plaintiffs also say FEMA ignored concerns about formaldehyde levels in trailers for months after Katrina.
The good news? In less than 180 days, this "it's not my fault" pack of incompetents will finally be shown the exit sign.
