Over at PTC, right-wing blowhard Brent Bozell is shocked - shocked! - that an appeals court has thrown out indecency fines that the FCC lobbed against CBS over Janet Jackson's 2004 Superbowl wardrobe malfunction. Says The Bozo: "If a striptease during the Super Bowl in front of 90 million people – including millions of children – doesn’t fit the parameters of broadcast indecency, then what does?"
If this guy thinks that blessedly brief bit of JJ flesh was a striptease, then he really should get out more. From the Houston Chronicle: "Not so fleeting was the near-hysterical reaction of the Federal Communications Commission, which launched a four-year morality crusade against indecency on the public airwaves and fined CBS $550,000. FCC officials failed to establish that CBS had advance knowledge of the stunt and wrongly concluded that Jackson and Timberlake were employees of the network."
It's worth noting that last year the good-and-godly Mr. Bozell defended Ann Coulter's venomous column about Elizabeth Edwards' deceased son. (There's a thorough report on that over at Crooks and Liars.) These "family values" champions sure have their prioities straight. Flesh = Bad. Hate = Good. Got it! Thanks, yer Worshipful!
