Will anyone notice the tragic irony of George W. Bush's flag-waving posturing this week as he appears at Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, in Charlottesville, Virginia?
It was, afterall, President TJ (that's how we Virginians know him) who said:"If there be one principle more deeply rooted than any other in the mind of every American it is that we should have nothing to do with conquest."
Memo to George: It was also Thomas Jefferson who said that the people's house of representatives could hold the executive and judicial branches in check only through the power of impeachment.
